Born in 1972 in Lecco, in northern Italy, from the ashes of Gee and Mako Sharks, Un Biglietto per l'Inferno are still regarded as one of the most influential Italian prog bands, despite a single LP release, their magnificent eponymous album from 1974.
The band had an intense live activity, that took to a very powerful sound driven by the twin keyboards of Banfi and Cossa and the lead guitar of Mainetti, with flute intermissions by singer Claudio Canali.

The album is a masterpiece, its hard-rock based sound being perfectly enriched by keyboards and flute, and the lyrics are strong and effective.
The five long tracks are all very nice, and the album is worth its high price. Two tracks, "Una strana regina" and "Confessione" were also released as a single, the latter in an instrumental-only version, with the same cover design as the album, the classic picture of jumping singer Claudio Canali, taken by Caesar Monti.

Nati nel 1972 a Lecco, dalle ceneri di Gee e Mako Sharks, Un Biglietto per l'Inferno sono tuttora considerati uno dei più influenti gruppi prog italiani di sempre, nonostante la produzione di un solo LP, il magnifico album omonimo del 1974.
Il gruppo ebbe un'intensa attività dal vivo, che creò un suono potente guidato dalle doppie tastiere di Banfi e Cossa e dalla chitarra solista di Mainetti, con interventi di flauto del cantante Claudio Canali.

L'album è un capolavoro, il suo suono di derivazione hard rock è impreziosito al punto giusto da tastiere e flauto, e i testo sono forti e d'effetto.
I cinque lunghi brani sono tutti molto belli, e l'album vale l'alto prezzo che costa. Due brani, "Una strana regina" e "Confessione" vennero anche pubblicati su 45 giri, il secondo dei due in versione strumentale, con lo stesso disegno di copertina dell'album, la foto, ormai classica, del cantante Claudio Canali mentre salta, opera di Caesar Monti.

This might be the least folky of the Wobbler releases and I wasn't sure about it at all. After a few listens however I'm loving the inventiveness and the endless melodies, all driven along by Kristian Hultgren's wonderful percussive bass. PartTimeZombie

In the Prog Archives, this is the only album from this millennium to crack the top 45 on the all time list. The lovable grognards over there can't seem to get enough of Wobbler, and neither can I. Leterren
